How-tology: Pumping Iron

While waves and curls were very big in 2001, both sleek, straight styles and crimped hair (hello 90s) is back with a vengeance. We’ll tell you how you can crimp, wave, and straighten-shine to perfection:

To hold your crimp, apply styling mouse if you have super straight hair. Divide your hair into small sections (about ½ to 1 inch) and make tight braids. You can either leave them overnight, or run them over with a straightener (use a heat protectant spray). Undo the braids once they have cooled, run your fingers through your hair if the curls need loosening. Finish with some hairspray to hold the curls in place.

To wave, you can get beautiful, shiny locks with a straightener. First spray your hair with heat protecting spray (and brush through). Section your hair in 1-1 ½ in sections, adjust according to your hair thickness. Take a section, with the straightener facing down, and straighten as normal. When you reach around halfway down your face, twist the hair and iron once, and continue to iron to the end of your section. You should get a beautiful wave curl, repeat and enjoy!

To straighten, it’s so simple. Get your hands on a good straightening iron, and of course some hair protecting spray. Straighten in 1in sections for an a sleek, chic look. Want a great shine? Do that before you style, use argan oil based hair products to boost shine.
