Howtology: Gimmie Some Lip
Lip Color & Technique
So here's the low down on lip products. Choose lipstick colors that complement your skin, eyes, and hair color rather than your outfit. The exception: If you're wearing red, your lip color shouldn't clash. Choose warm colors with a little yellow in them, like neutral brown-reds, corals, or orangey browns to make your smile shine bright white. To color your lips, always use a pencil, and choose one that matches either your lipstick or your lips. Never use a pencil that leaves a visible, contrasting outline.
You can paint a perfect mouth that really lasts: Learn to use a lip brush, even though you probably won't take the time to use it every day. After using your lip pencil, brush on lipstick in the same way: outlining, then filling in.
Using Glosses
To keep your lip gloss from bleeding, use it over pencil, and sparingly. Try a little clear gloss over a nude pencil. To turn your daytime mouth into a nighttime look, dab a shimmery gloss on the center of your bottom lip.
