Q&A: Lip-Stick the Landing
October 26, 2016
How do I make lip color really last?Layering your color is the key to making it last, especially if you alternate a dry layer with a creamy one. So start by lining and filling in your lips completely with lip pencil, then apply a thick coat of lipstick, blot, and reapply another light coat of color. To make a glossy formula stay on your lips, you need to give it a matte surface to which it can adhere. Start with either a coat of matte lipstick or a layer of lip pencil before applying your gloss. Your lipstick color will last if you apply one coat, blot by pressing your lips together on a tissue and then apply another coat. This won't leave lips feeling dry the way powdering your lips between coats can. |

Q&A: Flaunt Your Right Red Shade
September 26, 2016
How do I choose a good red lipstick that works with my complexion?Whether it was faked on or baked on, your summer tan took work. Don't blow that glow - flaunt it with the right red. This season's new crop of reds are sheerer and more wearable than ever before. Here's a basic way to choose the right shade for you. Reds really come in two tones, warm reds and cool reds. If you have medium skin choose warm orange-red lipsticks like crimson. They tend to warm up lighter skin. If you have olive or dark skin look for blue-red lipsticks. Those with a purple-pink or fuchsia effect. These shades are especially dramatic and will set off darker complexions beautifully. And remember - anyone can wear red, just give it a try! |
