Julia Roberts
Julie Roberts was born in Georgia on October 28, 1967. As she was growing up, her parents ran a children’s theater in their home, where she would watch her older siblings (Eric and Lisa) join in the workshops with the other children. When Julia was just ten, her father died of cancer, leaving her desperate to become successful in his honor and later claiming the event was “like a rebirth” for her. Around the same time, her brother Eric had a role in the soap opera Another World and within a few years had several successful roles in hit movies, thus leading the way for Julia to enter show business. Just days after graduating high school, Julia moved to New York with her sister. She immediately applied for a Screen Actors' Guild card so she could begin work as an actress, but discovered there was already an actress named Julie Roberts, hence Julia Roberts was created! Julia's brother got her a bit part in one of his movies and she earned a few other small roles. Julia's first big break came in 1988 when she appeared in Mystic Pizza; critics and audiences alike instantly fell in love with her. After this movie, Sally Field, who had became her mentor, pushed for Julia to get a role in her next big project, Steel Magnolias, and her efforts payed off, as Julia earned the role of her daughter Shelby. The role would also earn her an Oscar nomination and an engagement to co-star Dylan McDermott (although the two never married). Nothing could prepare Julia for what would happen next, as she earned the role that is her biggest success to date, as Vivian in Pretty Woman (another Oscar nomination would follow). Julia's roles would get bigger from there as she's starred in Flatliners (and became engaged to co-star Kiefer Sutherland but never married him either), Sleeping with the Enemy, The Pelican Brief, My Best Friend's Wedding, Conspiracy Theory, Stepmom, Notting Hill, Runaway Bride, Erin Brockovich (for which she won her first Oscar), The Mexican, Ocean's Eleven, Mona Lisa Smile, and Charlie Wilson's War, just to name a few (she also turned down roles in Basic Instinct and Sleepless in Seattle)! Julia's love life has often been in the spotlight, and after two broken engagements, she married musician Lyle Lovett in 1994 but the pair divorced a year later. She dated fellow actors Matthew Perry, Benjamin Bratt and Liam Neeson, but it was Danny Moder, a cameraman on The Mexican, that stole her heart. The two married in 2002 and Julia gave birth to twins Hazel and Phinneas in 2004. She took some time off to raise a family and also gave birth to another son, Henry, in 2007. Julia used her time off wisely as she became a strong advocate for UNICEF and travels around the world to support its causes. We're excited for Julia's newest movie coming out February 12 entitled Valentine's Day. She joins in the all-star cast to show the love triangle & break-up/make-up cycles of Los Angeles. Who wouldn't want to date her with her hot look? Join in the action!
